Dec 4 - Some of you may know that the Dolphin24 Forum was hacked early this morning by a Spammer hawking fake Rolex watches. As a consequence some of you may have received emails on your home email addresses because of a post you made on the Forum sometime in the past where you indicated that you wanted to be notified if you received a reply to your post. The Spammer posted a reply to your post (the fake Rolex ad) and the Forum system sent it to you.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you. I myself had 92 spam emails....

I closed the Forum for several hours and have deleted the Spammer's posts. The Forum is now open again and I am working with our web hosting service on how to minimize the risk of it happening again, hopefully without compromising the open nature of the Forum. This is the 3rd time we have had this problem in the 5 1/2 years we have been online.

One thing you can do to protect yourself is to not click the automatic notification feature of a reply to your post. This can be inconvenient as you would have to check back on the Forum to see if anyone replied to your post. If, from time to time you see a notice indicating that the Forum is closed for maintenance, check back later.
