This boat is now Jay Picotte's Recovery. Jay found this old picture of IMP in his files. We have little information about her. She was a successful racer and was referenced in an November 8, 1968 internal S&S memo about improving performance in a Dolphin. IMP had a custom made, cast bronze, foil shaped centerboard, and a lighter mast. Click here to go to this memo.

The following picture is of Recovery before Jay put in round portlights, but after he awlgripped her black.

Back in November, 2008 we had contact with the daughter of a former owner of Imp who recalls some of her adventures sailing with her father. Stay tuned
Good evening!
I was struck breathless by locating the boat I spent years sailing on with my father in the 1980's, Imp (now Recovery). I would love it if you could forward this email to Jay Picotte so I could share some stories. My father, James Phillip Rich died in 1989 and I was only 19 years old and not able to take on the responsibility (not to mention expense!) of a boat but I have missed Imp terribly since. My father sold her to Sandy Peterson and perhaps she sold Imp to Jay? Not sure how many owners there have been but I am thrilled that she is so well taken care of and loved. My Dad would be happy to see her on sailing adventures. I have many slides of our trip to Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and Labrador and when I am able to digitize them I would like to send them to Jay.
Best,
Sarah Rich
