This picture was in the S&S files. It was dated March 19, 1960 with a note that it was taken at Dick Bertram's yacht brokerage in Miami. We do not know what happened to this boat.

The following picture of an interior was in the same S&S folder as the Hull #1 picture above. It is dated January, 1961 from Village Studio in Syossett, NY. Note the gleaming headliner, wood sole, and the galley tucked in the port quarter. But, really note the wheel, binnacle and pedestal in the cockpit!! I thought this might have been a custom Dolphin interior? Nope - imprecise scaling indicates headroom is 6' +. Wishful thinking? What do you think?

Ok, back to reality. Paul Ingle (Seminole) gave us a series of 4 photos printed on a single 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. One of the photos is identical to the top photo on this page. These are the other 3 photos.
Pretty boat!
January 21, 2012. We have an interesting historical tidbit to share. Dick Bertram was a competitive big boat sailor in the 1950s and 60s but is perhaps most well known for racing in power boats. A famous win for him was the 1960 Miami-Nassau race across the Gulf Stream - in Moppie, the innovative, Ray Hunt designed, innovative deep V 30' powerboat. Click here to read more about Moppie
Only 2 boats finished that race - in second was another deep-V boat, 23' Aqua Hunter, another Ray Hunt design, and built by Palmer Scott at Marscot Plastics. Thanks to Darrel Swalling, and the Santa Barbara Sail and Power Squadron, we have this story. Click here

July 27, 2012. We have an investigation going on Who is Hull #1? Could it be Lezah? Developing. Click here to go there.
