Hey every one,

I am (still) on the look out for an inboard engine. My boat, a '61 o'day, was originally fitted with an inboard, which was removed before I bought the boat. Gas, desiel, 2 or 4 stroke, what ever. The out board on my transom is killing me. If you have any leads feel free to post here or email me at: halsey.mcgowan@gmail.com. Thanks!

Best regards,

Halsey

I want a volvo for my dolphin but i find that there is a severe lack of funds available in my budget. As usual. I have never heard of a 2-stroke inboard but i think the pollution factor (let alone the ra-ta-ta-ta of a rice burner) would dissuade me from considering one. Even a rebuilt Universal from Moyer Marine or a Beta would work for me. Since I am looking for a diesel, I have a universal core for free (worth a couple of hundred toward the $4,500.00 cost of a rebuilt) if you will come help remove and take it off my hands...

Thanks Ron. A quick search showed a re-built Universal 5411 marine diesel available for $2,800.. I goog'd the engine and found a manual for the specs. but for the time being I am 1500 miles from my boat and can't measure to see if the 20.5 inch height will fit. Sadly (in a state of seemingly endless perpetual limbo) I bookmark the site for use at a more appropriate time.

Eric
Maybe check out the Palmer engine pages in the Technical Section for their specs - maybe they give the height for the Palmer 27.

Eric,
The Diesel Exchange site also has a Yanmar 1GM10 listed for $2850 + core. That engine has been used in at least a couple of Dolphins I've read about, so it definitely should fit. It's in Wisconsin, though, so I don't know if that works for you.
