Hello All,
I recently had the decrepit dodger repaired and am trying to install it. One question is...does the boom have to be at its highest point on the mast slide? Any advice or pictures of how it is supposed to look when installed would be appreciated.

Hi Jack
Check out http://dolphin24.org/1497-4_Sail_Plan_big.html. There is a side view and measurements of the mast that locate the top of the boom in its lower position. I read it as 24" above the top of the trunk at the centerline. I think this is where the 'black band' is supposed to be. Then the clearance you need for the top of the dodger is based on the section dimensions of your particular boom.

I know a guy who lives not far from me who is an expert and who used to own Hound. I could call him if we need help analyzing this stuff.

Thanks so much Ron, that helps greatly. Ironically, I will see my cousin Sandy VanZandt quoted in the Good Old Boat artical at a family reunion. I will quiz him on this and other burning topics at that time. Thanks again.
